290 election OBSERVERS deployed to MONITOR ELECTIONS - ELOG
News 02:12
Tuesday,
the 15th of January 2013 - The Election Observer Group
(ELOG) says it has deployed 290 election observers to monitor the upcoming
elections. ELOG says that most of the observers have been deployed to potential
flashpoints.
ELOG also said that it is concerned about the outbreaks of
violence in areas like Tana River and Northern Kenya even as the March 4th
election date gets ever closer.
According to its website, ELOG
is “a coalition of civil society, faith based organizations & other key
stakeholders aimed at reclaiming & entrenching a culture of electoral
integrity in Kenya…”
ELOG joins a steady chorus of civil society organizations
like the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) that have promised
to monitor the upcoming elections. KNCHR last week said that it would even
monitor the party primaries set for Thursday.
